Empowered Pregnancy

About The Workshop

The sacred window of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal stage.

Childbirth is one of our greatest Rites of Passage as a woman as we transition from Maiden to Mother (or as we become a Mother again). Preparation through cultivating self-trust is one of our greatest powers as we cross this life changing threshold.

Mothers-to-be undergo many changes to their physical and emotional being during their 10 moons of pregnancy. As a holistic system of self-healing and spiritual growth, Ayurveda (the Ancient Indian Medical System) and Yoga has much to offer the pregnant and post-natal woman.

This workshop, which is over 2 Saturdays, offers you sacred time to step away from the noise of everyday life, to connect within and to your beautiful growing baby, and to focus on this special journey of pregnancy, as you prepare for the birth that you want, and gather many beneficial tools and practices to nourish and support you for a smooth transition into post-natal recovery and beyond.

During this session together we will:

  • Move our bodies and enjoy deep relaxation/yoga nidra (please wear comfortable yoga clothes and bring your yoga mat. All other props are provided).
  • Delve into the 3 trimesters of pregnancy; ways to ease discomforts, Auurvedic nourishment for both you and baby, effective pregnancy and labour breathing techniques (Pranayama) and movements/ poses (Asana) to support pregnancy and be of great use during labour.
  • Discuss the 5 stages of the Birth Rite of Passage; including practices, hormones, physiological birth, the impact of interventions, ways to create more space for baby, birthing positions and how you can use the power of the breath and movement to assist you and your baby during labour.
  • Pelvic floor practices for birth prep and for healing postpartum
  • Deep dive into how you can use Ayurvedic practice to support and nourish you and baby as you come back into balance postpartum. (When you and baby are deeply nourished and cared for in this sacred window of time, you will be able to enjoy this precious time and both thrive).
  • Discuss the 5 pillars of postpartum care.
  • Tools and practices for healing, strengthening, connecting with baby, breastfeeding, yoga, nourishment for you and baby and your digestive system, milk production, treatments, and feeling supported.
  • Ayurvedic practices that can greatly support the physical, mental/emotional, spiritual bodies of the mother and her baby.
  • Discuss how you can honor and respect the placenta.
  • You will be given a booklet to take home with you.
